Prosecutors May Drop Case Against Bryant

There is speculation that the case against Kobe Bryant may be dropped or settles for a substantial lesser charge.

According to a spokesperson for Eagle County prosecutors says that the number of setbacks and mistakes by the court have made the case against Bryant difficult to win.

The court in this case has violated Colorado's rape shield law on several occasions by releasing the name of Kobe's victim and publishing on its website confidential court documents.

If there is some kind of plea bargain, Kobe would have to admit in open court that he did assault the young woman in a hotel room. Bryant has said all along that the sex was consential. The victim says it was rape.

If Bryant "gets off" it would be another example of "star power" over the law. Bryant admits to the sex. That should almost be enough, but no, there is the NBA efo and glamour that follows Bryant.

The only bright light in this turn of events is the victim has filed a Federal civil suit. Let's hope she gets some money from this. Of course, as usual, the big winners are the lawyers.
