Nets set GOP confab plan

It is no surprise that the 4 major networks will stick to their plans to only provide 3 hours of coverage during the Republican National Convention.

This means that viewers who rely solely on the Big Four will miss speeches by John McCain and Rudy Giuliani.

This does not bother me at all. The Big Four are rapidly losing news viewers to the cable nets. Sooner or later, those networks with a nightly network newscast may decide it is better to withdraw from the expensive news business.

If I had to guess, it would be third-place network CBS that drops news first.

If you want to watch gavel-to-gavel coverage, pick a cable news network or for coverage without commentary or commercials, go to C-SPAN.
