The Weekend and Beyond

The weekend was crowded with stories about Mt. St Helen and the aftermath of the Presidential Debate.

On Saturday in NYC, Tom Brokaw, Dan Rather, and Peter Jennings sat on a panel talking about the media.

Although he would not talk about specifics, Rather believes that if you speak out about an administration they will attack you. Those attacks will come despite the "facts." It appears that Rather still believes that the forged memos are real. Yes, Dan, you are in a paranoid world of your own making.

Brokaw and Jennings simply supported Rather saying he was a "victim."

Well, what would you expect from the liberal anchors of the liberal networks to say.

There are more polls coming out. Yesterday, I mentioned the Newsweek poll and its problems. So, it can be discounted as accurate.

The Gallup Poll came out this morning showing a tie 49% for each candidate. The Gallup Poll was taken Friday through Sunday after the debate.

I was reminded yesterday that, Walter Mondale, Dukakis, and Al Gore all "won" their first debates. They were not elected.

Here are some other interesting items.

+Iraqi intelligence documents, confiscated by US Forces, demonstrate that Saddam Hussein did have extensive ties with terrorist organizations including Al-Qaeda. The documents reveal not only contact, but also training within Iraqi borders of terrorist groups.

Other documents show that Saddam Hussein had WMDs during the simmer of 2000 when inspectors were not in Iraq. The weapons included mustard gas and anthrax.

+It is the first Monday of October. The Supreme Court of the United States will begin its new term.

There are several cases on the Court's plate this years including the death penalty, medical marijuana, free speech, and prison sentences. Court watchers predict a divisive court with many 5-4 decisions.

One case the Supreme Court will not take up this years is on the constitutionality of the "do not call" list. This ends telemarketing industry attempt to rid itself of a annoyance.

Depending on the outcome of the November election, it will be interesting o see how many, if any, justices retire. Already rumored to retire are Chief Justice Rehnquist, and Justice O'Connor.

First up for the Justices is prison sentencing.

+Remember Sandy Berger? Sure you do. He is the sticky-fingered Kerry advisor who "mistakenly" took classified documents from the National Archive.

While there hasn't been any coverage of the investigation by the Kerry supporting media, the Federal government is still looking into the case.

WorldNetDaily: Feds say Berger still under probe

More late.
