Tidbits - 10/18/04

Some interesting things happened over the weekend.

Teresa Heinz Kerry released her 2003 tax return. Maybe she should not have done so. It seems that Ms Heinz Kerry paid about 14% tax on $5 million dollars income. That is a lower tax rate than most Americans. In fact, I pay 28% on much less than $5 million dollars.

Michael Moore was at it again. First, the pay-per-view is cancelled. The company working with Moore, InDemand, ended negotiations with Moore. The $9.95 event would have been broadcast on November 1. A company spokesperson said that the propaganda film was inappropriate that close to the election.

In another Moore story, Moore abruptly told C-SPAN to discontinue taping his speech. Moore was about to show footage not included in his propaganda film when he told C-SPAN to stop. Although Moore had originally approved the taping, he decided that the footage was only appropriate for a "high profile" pay-per-view not a "low profile" C-SPAN event. I guess he forgot the pay-per-view was cancelled.

The Chicago Tribune, only slightly less liberal than the New York Times, has endorsed George Bush for re-election.

Other interesting items.

+Polls out today show the President with a much larger lead. The latest Gallup poll show the President with an 8 point lead. A Newsweek Poll shows the President with a 6 point lead. The lead in both of these polls is far outside the margin of error.

I guess the "snap" polls after the debate are worthless compared to "real" polls using likely voters.
