Picking a President: Six Major Papers Choose

Senator John Kerry has been endorsed by six more newspapers including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Philadelphia Inquirer. In the past this would have been a big deal. At one time, major metropolitan newspapers were able to sway voters in an election. This is no longer the case.

At a time when most Americans get their news electronically from radio, televison, cable, and the internet, newspaper circulation has decreased dramatically. Newspapers serve a limited purpose in providing information and opinion to its readers, it no longer influences their opinions and votes. Gone are the mucrackers and high-powered editors and publishers. Todays newspapers provide little more than advertising spaceand classifieds.
