Debate Thoughts

The third Presidential Debate had a string and clearcut winner . . . President George W. Bush. No matter what the "snap" polls on CBS, ABC, and NBC say, the President had a clear message for voters and the audience.

His portrayal of Kerry's was correct and his understanding of domestic issues was complete. Each question was fielded with vision and knowledge. Each rebuttal to a Kerry answer was insightful and continued to contrast the visions of the two candidates.

Kerry still believes we can go back to a pre 9/11 mindset. He does not understand the threat and truly believes terrorism is a "nuisance."

Kerry did not rebut most of the President's answers with any substance at all. Most of the time he resorted to the talking points he has been using for the entire campaign.

The questions posed by moderator Bob Schieffer were, for the most part, liberal leaning questions. Many of the questions posed to the President were designed to trap the President into revealing a position that was not his. The President seemed to duck one question on the minimum wage, but he fully answered all the other questions and continued to point out Kerry's tax and spend policies and his dismal record in the Senate.

Kerry also took a page from John Edwards failed debate by naming the Vice President's daughter as a lesbian. While true, it is not something that should be part of the debate. It was "hitting below the belt" and not presidential or even worthy the most liberal Senator.

Kerry did look tired and pale and just not up to debating. Since the Senator took time off the campaign trail to prepare, you have to wonder, "Why is he so tired?"

Nevertheless, this is a victory for the President and will be a boost to his campaign. Unfortunately, the liberal media, who want Kerry to win, will continue to "not be straight with the American People."

Finally, to paraphrase John Edwards, if you think John Kerry won the debate, you must be "insane."
