More Document Problems

An article in the American Spectator reviews the "chain of custody" and concerns over the National Guard documents which appear to be forgeries.

A DNC staffer says that the DNC received the documents. Almost immediately there was speculation within the DNC that these were not totally verifiable. The DNC source said the documents came from the late Col. Killians files. The DNC staffer went on to say that the DNC turned the documents over to the Kerry campaign to "do whatever they wish."

Staffers at the Kerry campaign were also concerned about the authenticity of the documents, but they were "too hot" not to forward to CBS.

CBS staffers, except for the 60 Minutes producer and Dan Rather, also had some concern about authenticity. Unfortunately, the 60 Minutes producer thought the documents were "too hot" not to pursue.

So, how did the DNC get the documents? Were they sent by Carl Rove to embarrass the DNC and Kerry? Did CBS knowingly put forged documents on the air? What should the execs at CBS do to all those involved including Rather?

As noted earlier, this writer believes that CBS should close CBS News and start over.
