Afternoon Update - 2.1.05

Good Afternoon . . .

I am not a David Letterman fan. Never have been . . . never will be. On last night's show, Letterman finally did his tribute to the late Johnny Carson. It was a week late and a dollar short.

Only a few comedians owe more to Johnny Carson than David Letterman. Repeating Carson's last monologue is not a fitting tribute to the King of Late Night. Making your tribute a week late is not fitting. Apparently, Letterman could not find the time or inclination to come back from vacation early to provide a true and real tribute. David you should be ashamed. No wonder NBC did not want you to succeed Carson as the host of 'The Tonight Show.'

The Amber Alert System has been a success in many cases of child abduction. The system, however, may have failed in the case of a young Indiana girl.

10 year old Katie Collman's body was found near Seymour Indiana on Sunday five days after she was abducted near her home in Crothersville Indiana.

The victim was missing for two days before an Amber Alert was issued. Authorities say that the delay was because witnesses say Collman willing get into a truck a short distance from her home.

Sergeant Jerry Goodin of the Indiana State Police said that a witness reported, "there was no sign of her being held against her will or trying to get out." Police have a description of the truck and are offering a $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of Collman's killer.

Police did not speculate on any changes to the Amber Alert system based on this case.
